On historical footpaths

Starting point: National park parking area “KellerwaldUhr” near Frankenau (51.10627, 8.948383)

Length:  3.4 km

Short description: The Quernstweg leads through eventful history and nascent wilderness. It shows how old borders disappear and opens the senses for a new relationship between man and nature. On the near-natural footpaths the hiker follows the symbol of the Quernst chapel.
The force of nature is obvious in the old windfall areas along the Quernstpfad. A guided tour with a ranger across decaying roots and through young emergent forest is recommended. Here, the hiker may take his time to ponder on the nascent wilderness.

An accompanying booklet is available from the facilities of the national park.
