Ochsenwurzelskopf Route

Through the deep beech forests

Starting point: National park parking area “Peterskopf” near Hemfurth (51.171806, 9.034111)

Length: 6.7 km

Short description: The first section of the route winds up in serpentines to the Großer Hegekopf. The route continues on the Urwaldsteig Edersee either around the Ochsenwurzelskopf – follow the red deer – or directly to the high reservoir. Sturdy shoes and sure footedness are recommended. Those who want it more comfortable can walk to the e.on information centre, take the funicular railway to the Peterskopf and walks back on the asphalt road.
